Brown Ideye arrived in South Africa on Sunday morning to join up with the Super Eagles just as the injured John Mikel Obi flew off to London to continue treatment on his injured knee.
Ideye was taken straight to Tembisa, where the team will play a friendly match later on Sunday against North Korea.
He met up with Media Officer Idah Peterside and NFF President Sani Lulu.
The rest of the squad are on their way to Durban, and the Sochaux forward is not expected to play any part in the friendly game.
Mikel, the man he replaced left the Nigeria camp for London where he will be attended to by Chelsea's medical staff.
