AC MILAN, INTER BATTLE FOR TAIWO

Stunning news out of Italy has it on authority that AC Milan and Inter Milan are both in a battle to grab the signature of Taye Ismaila Taiwo (The Tornado).

In the biggest transfer news to hit a Nigerian player in recent time, TT has been tipped to step out of the woods at Marseille, where he has been in stiff competition with Argentine icon, Gabriel Heinze for a regular feature in the left-wing-back position, with talk spreading about a move to Italy .

The new angle to Taiwo’s dilemma at Marseille reveals that the Super Eagles star is set to finally put doubts over his future to rest, although he initially announced his intention to stick with OM, if gaffer of the side, Didier Deschamps wants him.

Taiwo has a contract with the Phocaeans until 2011, but is stalling on sealing a new deal and Marseille are ready to cash in on a possible transfer to one of the Milan sides.

The former Lobi Stars and Gabros International star is reportedly interesting of Europe's Milan, Inter, Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Juventus and Manchester City, but the Rossoneri appear in pole position for a deal.

The report states further that Taye Taiwo is needed at Milan to rejuvenate the squad’s aging back-four of Jankulovski (33), Zambrotta (33) and Favalli (38).

It has also been stated that Milan want to hire a young, enterprising player like Taiwo, with experience and prime to motivate Albertazzi (19) and Fondrini (20) to progress.
However, the biggest hurdle for a deal at Milan for Taiwo comes from his Ligue 1 club, as Marseille want between €10-12 million for his transfer, and the star’s agent says a deal at is on standby.

''He is with Marseille for now. These are all speculations. I keep hearing that AC Milan and Inter Milan are interested but they've not contacted us.

“Anyway, we wait until end of the World Cup, then we start negotiations with Marseille. Everything remains open,'' Taiwo's agent stated.
